In this article from the Internet Marketers Money Making Machine we want to focus on a key ingredient to your success. You. Yes you that's who. Of the numerous keys to success that will be talking about over the next couple of weeks, no single one point is more important than you. In other words, do you have the right stuff to be a successful entrepreneur? Or don't you? Now you are thinking to yourself "Jeesh what's up with this guy? First my money is no good and then I don't have enough time to do this. And now I'm having to go through some sort of psychoanalysis!" Yes it is time for you to accept responsibility for your own success or failure. The reason I say do this after you analyze your available and money is to see if you have the motivation and fortitude to pursue your goal. Otherwise you'll jump right in and end up with a big fat zero. But before I start I think it is appropriate for a little history lesson so you understand how you got where you are. In 1775, 95% of Americans worked for themselves and 5% worked for someone else. In 2005, 5% of Americans worked for themselves and 95% worked for someone else. Amazing how after 230 years we are headed right back to where we started. A prime reason for this was the Industrial Revolution. Can't have free wheeling thinkers on the line now. They might not want to work sixteen hours a day, days a week. So the American public education systems was designed to produce people who would not question why and work in factories. We were taught to be followers not leaders. In JFKs inaugural address he spoke the famous "Ask not what you country can do for you? But you can do for your country? We still acted responsibly back then. Now we are headed towards socialism and what can the country do for me? Not exactly the bedrock of entrepreneurialism. Now armed, you really do need to analyze yourself and ask yourself some fairly serious questions about yourself. Then ask your wife, husband, or your best friend to give you their comments on these same questions. Then you'll have a true answer about yourself. You need to first ask yourself if you are or ever have been an entrepreneur at any time in your life? As a child or young adult did you ever shovel snow, cut grass, wash cars, caddy, pick fruit, baby sit, clean houses, deliver papers or run a lemonade stand? Were you ever successful selling candy for the Girls Scouts, the Band, advertisements for your school paper. How did you fee when you were doing it? Were you scared or did you feel great? Are you a self-starter? Or do you wait for someone to give you direction? Your boss at work will tell you trust me. Do you volunteer to run things at church, the PTA, the soccer league? Or do you just show up? Do you need constant reassurance as to your work? Ask your boss again. Are you organized? Do you plan? When you have a lot to accomplish, do you get out a piece of paper and make a list? Or do you shoot from the hip and hope it all gets done? Do you have a schedule? Do you write down on the calendar everything you need to do and where you need to go? Or do you run around with your head cut off like a chicken? Do you resist change? Or do you roll with the punches? Do your feelings get hurt easily? Can you accept criticism? Remember the customer is always right. All of a sudden you are no longer the customer. Will you fold at the first sign of pressure? Or do you bow your head and battle through? Do you start projects and never complete them? Ask your wife if you don't know. Are you lazy? Hint if you spend a lot of time watching T.V. (the electric income reducer) or hit Happy Hour everyday give yourself a yes. Do you like new things and/or challenges? Or are you quite content to brown bag it everyday? What is your education level? Meaning have you cared enough about your future to do more than drop out of high school? And I am not just talking college here .If you are a tradesman, are you still a journeyman or a master? Or a general contractor? Are you willing to learn new skills and listen to those who have been successful? Do you know how to be successful? Have you ever been taught how to be successful? Yes that is correct. You can be taught to be successful and you can be taught to be a leader, and you can be taught to be an entrepreneur. That is the good news. You can change if you want to. If you desire it enough. But you must know what to change and how to change it. You have more than two "no's," don't jump in just yet. Take some courses and success seminars. Start hanging out with a different group of people. People that are successful. Join your local Chamber of Commerce. Observe who is successful and get to know them. Community Colleges have numerous courses designed for self-improvement. There is everything from sewing, to literature, to being a mechanic, to being a businessperson. The library and bookstores have loads of resources and information. There are an increasing number of online courses This will get some success under your belt. You will feel better about yourself and have more confidence in dealing with the promises you will face. Additionally, you will start to develop a network of peer and support groups organically.
